Aerospace engineering involves designing, exploring, and testing aircraft. This field is not restricted to aircraft but also deals with spacecrafts and missiles. Various tests and experiments are conducted to measure the proper functioning of the spacecraft, missiles, and aircraft. Designing, developing, and testing needs a lot of technical knowledge. The technologies created by aerospace engineers are used in industries like aviation, while exploring space, and for defense purposes.

An aerospace engineer has to specialize in any of these: structural designing, guiding, navigating and controlling, instrumentation and communication, production methodology, commercial transport, military fighter planes, helicopters, spacecraft, missile, or rockets within the aerospace product. The job requires technical work, so they will likely use the latest technologies like computer-aided design (CAD) software, robotics, lasers, and advanced electronic optics.

To get a reputed and technical job, individuals can specialize in aerodynamics, thermodynamics, celestial mechanic systems, propulsion systems, acoustics, hydraulics, engines, fuel, pneumatics, avionics, thermodynamics, or designing software for aircraft control systems or guidance and control systems. They should have a logical approach to solve a problem, with excellent knowledge in mathematics, and good writing skills.

Students who have done mechanical engineering may get a lifetime opportunity to work for a reputed organization known as NASA. They can also look for opportunities to work for research labs and quantitative firms where their expertise would be required.

There are many UK universities that offer degrees for aeronautical engineering. Aerospace Engineers have great career opportunities. They can give lectures to learning students. As this field is highly technical, the lecturers have to be experienced as this helps impart the best information currently used in the field. The main focus of this industry is on development and designing of machines which are used for space. To be an aeronautical engineer a minimum of graduate degree (B.E/ B.Tech.) is a must or at least a diploma in Aeronautics. Engineering colleges offer a variety of courses which provide undergraduate and postgraduate degrees to the students interested in aeronautical field. Some polytechnics courses are also provided for commencing aeronautical engineering.

The average salary is in the range of $70,000 to $90,000. As the work requires highly technical knowledge and commitment to work, the salary can go beyond $100,000 for experienced aeronautical engineers.
