Lockheed Martin and Boeing cuts jobs, AerospaceCrossing finds 8,000 jobs.

Lockheed Martin's layoffs will occur at its space-systems unit. The 1,200 people who are going to be laid off account for 7.5% of the space-systems division's workforce. The unit has 16,000 employees across 12 states.
The layoffs will occur at the end of the year because some pending projects will be completed by then. The company employs 126,000 people worldwide.
The Bethesda-based company has said that most of its layoffs will occur in its facilities at Sunnyvale, Delaware Valley region in Pennsylvania, and Denver.
Rival Boeing will be cutting down 225 jobs at its defense facility in Wichita through a combination of layoffs, transfers, and attrition. The company has offered its employees help through its human resources section to update their resumes and give them interview and job hunting tips.
