Description: Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control is seeking an Electronics Packaging Professional to join our team at our campus in Chelmsford, MA. Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control Chelmsford designs and manufactures RF and microwave components and systems for use in missile applications and other harsh military environments. Here in Chelmsford we are incorporating the use of modern design tools in the relevant design disciplines of RF/microwave, analog/digital, and mechanical/thermal engineering. Also, on premises are state-of-the-art electronics manufacturing facilities, and ESS test capabilities. We are taking our electronics packing efforts to the next level and this Staff Electronics Packaging Engineer role will have the opportunity to contribute to and drive that evolution. The engineer will investigate the use of 3D packaging techniques to drive further miniaturization. The engineer will investigate new technologies to solve high speed interconnections across diverse materials. The engineer will work on tailored packaging approaches to address thermal design challenges and maximize reliability. The engineer will perform root cause analysis of failures to improve and mature new technologies and techniques. The engineer will Interface with PWB designers. While primarily focused on packaging, the engineer will perform some thermal and stress analysis on an as needed basis. The engineer will work with dissimilar materials (ex. PWB substrates, GaAs, SiGe, GaN and LCP). The engineer will develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. This exciting work will include performing preliminary and detailed design and analysis of assemblies, systems, subsystems, and components. The ideal candidate shall have knowledge of or experience with advanced 3D electronics packaging design. The ability to leverage advanced electronics packaging design towards the design and manufacture of microwave and millimeter wave electronics components and systems for severe environment will be a crucial focus of this role. Demonstrated experience with state of the art electronics packaging techniques including hybrid and circuit card assemblies is preferred. Chelmsford is very close to historic Lowell Massachusetts and to Nashua, New Hampshire. Chelmsford is within reach of New Hampshire's White Mountains and awesome ski areas to the north, and the scenic coastal towns of MA and NH are about an hour east. This scenic colonial region offers lots of New England charm, great schools, shopping, and restaurants. Chelmsford and the region share an impressive past from the early days after the pilgrims arrived in Plymouth to the revolutionary war. Where can you get to from Chelmsford? Chelmsford is about 90 minutes from Cape Cod. Boston is about 30 minutes to the east without traffic. New York City is about 4.5 hours away from Chelmsford. Waterville Valley and other major ski resorts of New Hampshire and Vermont are about 2 to 3 hours to the north.It should be noted that Chelmsford, Massachusetts is approximately 35 miles northwest of the Boston metropolitan area and offers better access to a wide range of substantially more affordable regions in the area to live. Those regions include Northeastern and North Central Massachusetts, and Southern, New Hampshire.Desired Skills: -An advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related technical field may be desirable. -Experience with design and manufacture of microwave electronics would be a plus. -Experience with ruggedized design is desired. -Prior experience with 3D assembly packaging is desired. -Knowledge of Liquid Crystal Polymers is desired. -Familiarity with Embedded components is desired. -Familiarity with the International Microelectronics Assembly and Packaging Society (IMAPS) is desired. -Experience with stress analysis or thermal analysis or finite element analysis (FEA) is desired. -Experience with Ansys, Siemens NX and NX Nastranis is desired.-Hands on experience with environmental testing including thermal, shock and vibration testing is desired.-Experience writing component specifications, and system/subsystem/component test plans is desired.-Knowledge of GD&T is preferred. Basic Qualifications: -A BS degree from an accredited college in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field and 9 plus years of professional experience is required. -Proficiency with 3D CAD software including PTC CREO and AutoCAD is required.-Experience with major aspects of electro-mechanical design, including layout and design documentation is required. -Experience with electromechanical or packaging design and manufacture of electronics is required. -Excellent writing and verbal communication skills for generating analysis plans and reports, documentation, and proposals are required. -Candidate must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret Clearance and must have the ability to be granted an interim secret clearance before starting the position.
