Description: Lockheed Martin’s Corporate Strategy & Business Development (CSBD) is a corporate function comprised of Corporate Strategy, Enterprise Collaboration and Corporate Business Development. CSBD’s mission centers around “strategic activism” imperatives:

• Driving improved strategic decision making

• Fostering and facilitating cross-BA collaboration

• Improving LM competitive posture and capture excellence

• Organize, train, and equipping the CSBD function as well as the S&BD community of practice, and

• Active portfolio management

The Strategic Planning Manager in the Corporate Strategy organization will be responsible for leading a wide variety of efforts which drive “strategic activism” across the enterprise. They will lead teams of high performing strategic planning professionals, and lead strategy projects having significant enterprise impact.

The Strategic Planning Manager will be responsible for leading cross-enterprise, multi-dimensional competitive assessments, to include enterprise-level elements such as, analysis and rational behind legislative agendas, customer messaging, technology investments, human capital initiatives, and anticipating M&A targets. They will also be responsible for simultaneously leading strategy projects focused on enterprise-level topics which align to strategic activism imperatives.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Lead initiatives aimed to drive “strategic activism” across the enterprise

• Lead multi-dimensional analysis and development of competitive and competitor enterprise strategies (domestic and international)

• Facilitating the development of enterprise strategies through partnerships with business area and functional strategy teams

• Cultivate cross-enterprise (BA and functional) collaboration

• Provide project leadership and management of Strategic Business Reviews, cross-business area studies and ad-hoc strategy projects and analyses for executive leaders

• Provide leadership and oversight of ongoing and situational based analysis of the Lockheed Martin portfolio, and communicate findings and shaping recommendations to leadership

• Engagement with external consultants, think tanks, SMEs and thought-leaders to explore and address Lockheed Martin’s most pressing strategic issues

• Development of executive and board-level strategy presentations and documents, and presenting findings at the VP, SVP, EVP, CEO and Board levels

• Supporting M&A activities through market and strategic analysis and/or integration planning and execution

• Management, training, and development of junior analysts

Basic Qualifications:

• Prior experience with development of Enterprise, Business Area or functional strategies. Prior experience leading market focused strategy reviews with enterprise-level impact

• A deep and current understanding of the Aerospace and Defense (A&D) industry (globally), and factors driving industry and broader market behaviors

• Prior experience leading and conducting all-source competitive assessments, familiarity and experience with methods behind CI, and development and delivery of impactful forward-looking evaluations of enterprise strategies and strategic recommendations to C-suite executives

• Experience tracking and performing routine/ongoing analysis of Government, Customer, Competitor and A&D Industry activities and initiatives

• Demonstrated ability to be a broad strategic thinker, able to bridge from strategy to actionable objectives, actions, and progress metrics though critical thinking, intelligence and curiosity

• Demonstrated project management skills, and experience of successfully leading geographically and functionally diverse teams (comprised of corporate and business area staff, external consultants, Think Tanks and Industrial Associations) on projects of significant strategic impact for delivery to C-suite executives

• Proven leader of and contributor to diverse, high-performance teams

• Strong executive presence and polish

• Demonstrated outstanding communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills to an executive level audience

• Exceptional PowerPoint skills, and development of C-suite level briefing materials

• Strong Excel skills for data analysis and the creation of rich and impactful visualizations

• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance

Desired Skills:

• Extensive knowledge and recent familiarity with Lockheed Martin’s business segments, customers, competitors, markets and strategies

• Experience with financial modeling of A&D segments for the purpose of strategy development

• Experience with scenario planning, operations analysis, and knowledge of threats and future customer missions

• Practical experience implementing enterprise strategy with teams, organizations and functions to drive growth

• Management/strategy consulting experience for A&D industry

• M&A and corporate development experience for A&D industry

• Advanced level degree, such as MBA

• Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance, and familiarity with DoD and IC classified activities
