Description: This job classification is covered by a collective bargaining agreementResponsible for scheduled/unscheduled maintenance on P-3 avionics and electrical/instrument systems to include the APS-145 (E-2) radar system. Utilizes advanced technical knowledge to solve complex avionics/electrical problems that typically cannot be solved by referencing manufacturers technical manuals or similar documents. Diagnose malfunctions and adjust, repair or replace defective assemblies, subassemblies and components using organizational and intermediate maintenance level maintenance practices. Accomplishes complex modifications and upgrades to the installed systems as directed by the customer and works directly with engineering personnel to document and work through modification issues that arise. Position works directly with Leadership on site to develop and implement best work practices to increase safety and efficiency in the organization.Position requires frequent travel in support of remote site operations working multiple shifts (Days/Nights/Weekends) and holidays while at remote sites and at primary work location.Position requires ability to obtain and maintain DOD Security Clearance as well as Customs and Border Protection background investigation. Employment is dependent on successful background security and drug screen.Physical Requirements:Standing/Sitting: Requires full time standing with limited resting periods and to walk distances. Sit for extended periods if required.Heights: Able to work at heights. Able to climb stairs or ladders as required. Able to work off of step stools, scissor lifts, lift platforms and aircraft structure without handrails.Overhead work: Able to work overhead as required.Weight restriction: Able to Lift/push/pull/carry a minimum of 25 lbs.Body positioning: Able to twist/bend (neck or waist) and stoop. Able to work in awkward positions as required. Able to squat/kneel/crawl/reach as required. Able to work tight/confined spaces (min 2ft x 2ft)Work content: Able to use/hold/manipulate small tools and parts with hands. Simple grasping, power grasping and fine manipulation is required. Able to use vibrating tools and perform torqueing operations. Able to use power moving equipment and power moving equipment. Repetitive tasks will be performed.Vision/Hearing: High level Hand/Eye coordination required. Corrective lenses may be used. Eye protection required in many instances. Color differentiation may be required. Must be able to hear at level required for positions.Environmental: Able to work around noise, chemicals, fumes and dust. Capable of using respirators and other personal protective equipment including hearing protection if required. Able to work outside if needed. Attendance: Regular attendance required based on set work schedule. Able to work any shift. Vehicles/Power moving equipment: Able to operate equipment or machinery as required. Able to work around heavy equipment and machinery.*Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access.Desired Skills: P-3/E-2 Avionics organizational and/or intermediate maintenance experience.Experience with APS 145 (E-2) radar system.Recent experience equivalent to a Military Organizational Avionics Technicians Journeyman (or better) on reconnaissance aircraft. Basic Qualifications: Minimum of 7 years of recent aircraft avionics experience on P-3/E-2 fixed wing aircraft or related long range reconnaissance aircraft.Working level knowledge on all aspects of avionics equipment operations including installation, maintenance/operation techniques, adjustment, calibration, diagnosis, bench check, routine maintenance, inspection and intermediate level repair of the P-3 related systems.Experience using complex system and circuit diagrams, prints and specifications.
