Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems Sector has an opening for a Structural Design Section Manager. This is a leadership position.
The successful candidate will manage the functional engineering activities of approximately fifteen Structural Design Engineers within a program. The Section Manager is responsible for design product integrity, process adherence, staffing, training and tools. Specific responsibilities include structural design technical and process oversight, participation in the performance review process, management of personnel records and participation in corrective or disciplinary actions. Staffing responsibilities may include hiring, reduction in force actions, recruiting of personnel and working to ensure that designers with the appropriate skills and experience are deployed. The ability to manage training opportunities and budget allocations, as well as participation in tool, process, and metric initiatives is required. The Section Manager
will also perform IPT Structural Design leadership tasks, which will comprise the majority of the candidates work statement. Team engagement is a key focus. The ability to mentor, provide career guidance and coaching, and to lead others is required. This position may require travel, but will be permanently located in Melbourne, Florida.
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
7 years of experience in Aerospace Structural Design.
U.S. Citizenship is required.
Active Secret Clearance required
Proven history of leadership
Proficiency with NX Solid Modelling.
Proficiency with TeamCenter.
The ability to visualize and develop aircraft structure within a 3-dimensional environment (Catia, NX, Pro-E etc.).
Proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office software suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to collaborate within a team and across team environments.
Ability to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project result.
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplishing them simultaneously.
Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions.
