Ball Aerospace's Albuquerque office, located near Kirtland Air Force Base NM, is a key provider of technical services to the Air Force Research Laboratory Directed Energy and Space Vehicles directorates. Our multi-discipline staff provides a broad range of scientific and engineering services, including laboratory and field experiments, technology assessments, modeling & simulation, and analyses. We are seeking additional qualified researchers and engineers to join our science and technology oriented organization.
Laboratory Support Staff â€“ RDT&E; (Research, Development, Test & Engineering)/IT
What you'll do:
Provide support across multiple disciplines in a research, development, test, & engineering (RDT&E;) lab environment.
Responsible for first level user support, software installation services, and break/fix services for users at multiple classification levels.
Troubleshoot IT systems and laboratory hardware/software successfully using knowledge from past experiences.
Participate in laboratory set-up, test execution, and other laboratory activities.
Utilize laboratory experience including use of standard laboratory instrumentation such as DMMs, oscilloscopes, power supplies, general optical bench equipment, and data acquisition hardware/software to perform measurements and collect data.
Conduct cursory analyses of data using basic math skills.
Cross-train with other tasks across the organization.
Consult with a Configuration Control Board team consisting of Information Assurance, laboratory experimentalists, and management members.
Read, comprehend, and execute technical process specifications, procedures, and standards.
Manage Laboratory Network (LabNet) consisting of servers, switches, fiber optic cabling, and 60 clients.
Maintain in-house and remote networks including setup and troubleshooting network hardware/software, and push updates as required.
Exercise judgment and decision making in the diagnosis and resolution of computer hardware and software problems.
Maintain documentation records to log and track problems and resolutions as appropriate.
Write/update documentation including operating instructions, user guides, network diagrams, and other compliance documents.
Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the SBU/SSU and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
Perform other duties as necessary.
What youâ€™ll need:
BS in Information Technology or a related technical field plus 2 or more years of related experience is required.
Each higher level degree, i.e., Masterâ€™s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Two years of related experience may be substituted for each year of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
Security certification is preferred.
Experience with IT and RDT&E; hardware/software.
Familiarity with the government RMF (risk management framework) process is desired.
Knowledge of common laboratory best practices including some relevant hands-on experience.
Knowledge of planning, configuring, maintaining, patching and monitoring in a Microsoft Windows server environment running Windows Server versions 2008/2008R2/2012.
Experience with Windows7 OS imaging, installation, and support.
Experience with intel-based server class and desktop hardware.
Experience with vMware virtualization products (Horizon View, vSphere 5.x/ESXI, vCenter, Operations Manager).
Experience with group policy, user and password maintenance in Microsoft Active Directory.
Experience with Microsoft Exchange 2010.
Experience troubleshooting DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP and related connectivity issues.
Documentation skills, organization skills, and the ability to interact with team members cross-functionally.
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
Electronics aptitude is desirable.
Ability to interface effectively with people at all levels and from diverse areas.
Work is performed in an office environment.
Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.
Successful applicant for this position must be eligible to obtain a DoD clearance. A current DoD clearance is not required to be eligible for this position, however the successful applicant will be required to obtain a DoD clearance within a reasonable time after the offer is extended and must be able to maintain the applicable clearance. * US Citizenship is Required
