Job Description
Design Engineer  Sylmar, CA This role will design and develop electro mechanical components, systems, interconnections, structures, involving: human interface with handles, linkages, gears, solenoids, switches, hard and soft detents & assemblies, planning, documentation, testing and support. Specifies wiring, components, test equipment, methods and work flows and creates documentation of individual components/assemblies with overall system block diagrams. Work with electrical/electronic components and assemblies including VDT’s, switches, cable and wire harnesses, control panels, circuit boards, solenoids and power supplies. Ways You'll Make an Impact Participate in ongoing product enhancements to meet market requirements. Develop new products from internal concepts or customer requirements. Design advanced products and solutions using Design for manufacturability. Maintain awareness of industry trends and developments Investigate possible solutions to Engineering problems, exercising innovation and engineering judgment to identify the optimum method or technique for undertaking the work. Maintain the highest ethical standards, even when challenged from above Complete documentation and releases deliverables to manufacturing to ensure consistent product assembly. Provides clear and concise documentation of design, assembly and test processes. Accepts input from all sources when determining designs and procedures. Look for opportunities to improve existing designs from an assembly, product cost or reliability viewpoint. Organize and cataloguing test result data for future reference Work with Solidworks (preferred) or other 3D modeling software. Understand, develop and utilize FEA, FMEAs. Required Minimum 10 years of extensive knowledge of mechanical components, mechanisms and complex dynamic assemblies including electro-mechanical system level design. A BS degree in Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering A strong interest and desire to work in a dynamic, fast pace, priority changing engineering environment. Knowledge of Aerospace manufacturing processes and documentation. Advanced problem-solving skills utilizing science and engineering education to arrive at practical solutions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work individually as well as interact with vendors, customers, other engineers and manufacturing. Creative and able to conceptualize, design and develop complex mechanisms and mechanical/electromechanical assemblies. Experience with and understanding of Military, Aerospace and Commercial Aviation industry standards and specifications. Familiarity with metal and plastic part design and fabrication experience. Experience with designing close tolerance machined parts made from raw stock, casting, forgings and sheet metal. High-end CAD experience, preferably with Solidworks. Experience with static and dynamic fixtures, tool design and fabrication. Rapid Prototyping experience is desirable. Ability to work closely with Test Engineering during product qualification phase. Ability to work closely with Manufacturing and Quality personnel during product launch phase. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written, with internal and external customers, vendors, and factory personnel. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Basic understanding of cost accounting. Familiarity with AS9100 practices. Please Contact Rich Nguyen at INDENG
