Northrop Grumman Marine Systems specializes in the design, manufacture, assembly, and test of propulsion and power generation systems for naval submarines and surface ships. As a member of the Test-Engineering team, the candidate will be responsible for leading Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to accomplish test campaigns of large, precision, electromechanical, rotating machinery. In addition, the candidate will be responsible for leading teams to accomplish all associated readiness and continuous-improvement activities in support of these campaigns. The candidate will be responsible for managing the scope, schedule, and cost associated with these activities and will manage these attributes during all phases of each project from inception through closure. Although the candidate's primary responsibility will be to manage all test-related projects for a single program, the candidate may be assigned to similar roles in support of other programs as needed. The candidate will be the primary point of contact for test-related activities; as such, the candidate will be expected to interface with all members of our organization, including leaders from Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Business Management, and Program Management, as well as with suppliers and customers. Extended hours will be required of the candidate during the execution of test campaigns that last 24 hours per day, seven days per week for two-to-four week stretches. Between two and four test campaigns are planned each year. All overtime hours will be compensated as straight time (salary pro-rated at a 1x rate). Limited travel (up to 5% of the time) will be required for meetings at customer sites.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

* Active DOD Secret or Top Secret clearance

* BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field

* At least nine years of industry experience with a BS degree or at least seven years of experience with an MS degree

* Experience leading technical teams

* Project-management experience

* Excellent written and oral communication skills

* Ability to climb up and down stairs and ladders to reach test areas

Preferred Qualifications:

* Program-management experience

* PMP Certification (Project Management Professional)* Experience with EVMS (Earned Value Management System)* MBA degree (Master of Business Administration)* Systems-Engineering experience

* Testing or design experience, either electrical or mechanical

* Experience testing or designing large mechanical structures

* Experience testing or designing medium- and high-power electronics
