Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems (NGAS) is seeking a Vehicle Controls Department Manager to join our Flight Sciences and Vehicle Controls Organization. This position reports to the Director, Flight Sciences and Vehicle Controls.
This position is responsible for providing the people, processes and tools to meet the current and future Vehicle Controls Department (VC) needs of the Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) within Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems (NGAS).
VC covers the following disciplines and subordinate skills: Control Technology, Autonomy Research and UAV Technology, Aircraft Vehicle Management Systems (VMS), Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC), Space Vehicle Attitude Control Systems (ACS) and Space Vehicle Line of Sight (LOS).
The successful candidate will build a culture that empowers and motivates team performance, and will establish functional shared accountability with the programs and new business pursuits we support.
The Manager of VC shall execute the following charter:
Provide the technical and people leadership needed to establish and maintain a World class VC organization across multiple programs.
Work closely with the programs, senior engineers, and section managers to define and implement the department strategies, ensure successful planning and execution of program activities, solicit and fulfill program staffing needs, set Talent goals and provide performance feedback, support the annual Salary Review Planning process, plan for future program skill mix requirements, mentor and develop the next generation of leadership, serve as focal point for training needs. Manage the
capital assets and indirect budgets required for the AC disciplines to perform their IPT statements of work. Provide functional oversight for VC across NGAS including independent technical reviews of major IPTs. Establish and maintain the VC - specific processes and design manuals for NGAS programs. Facilitate and promote Affordability, Knowledge Management, and other process improvement initiatives including the instantiation of metrics covering engineering efficiency and quality, as well as sharing of lessons learned and best practices throughout the organization. Support the Community of Practice (CoP) for VE disciplines and promote consistency across the Centers of Excellence (CoE) and IPTs in using common tools and processes.

Knowledge of Staffing, Metrics and Training
Must have proven technical management experience preferably in either program IPT, Advanced Systems, technology, and/or functional environments
Must have experience effectively leading diverse technical teams
Ability to obtain and retain a D.O.D. Top Secret Clearance with SSBI is required.
Ability to maintain SCI clearance is required
Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution
Active D.O.D. Top Secret Clearance with SSBI
Active SCI clearance
Possess technical discipline credibility to provide Ã¢â¬ÅbackstopÃ¢â¬? support to programs as required on behalf of team members
Experience with Vehicle Control Technology on both Air and Space Platforms
