Northrop Grumman in Azusa, CA, needs a qualified Systems Engineer to work with an outstanding team on the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) program on the Advanced Technology Microwave Sounder (ATMS) instrument. On the JPSS spacecraft, ATMS is one of the key components used for national and global weather forecasting. As a member of the ATMS Systems Engineering team, the candidate will be involved with the full build cycle from component level through instrument level with opportunities to support spacecraft and on-orbit operations. Candidate responsibilities will include data analysis and review at each level of integration, requirements traceability and verification, support creation of new analyst tools, development and presentation of packages for internal and NASA customer reviews, and coordination amongst a variety of disciplines during troubleshooting activities. Long term tasking includes developing a total system knowledge to gain core competency to fully support the overall build and integration process. This includes component level understanding, subcontractor coordination, instrument integration and on-orbit operations. This is an exciting opportunity to join development work for future ATMS instruments. In this role you will be involved in efforts from concept to deployment for innovative technology.Qualifications:Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) 5 or more years of engineering experience in the Aerospace Industry including at least 3 years of experience in design of space instrumentation systems Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in a STEM field 5 years of experience in Systems Integration & Test Requirements Flowdown & Traceability Concepts Some Technical Lead experience Communication with Customers Ability to work autonomously F amiliarity with commonly used tools in both MS Windows & Unix environments (MATLAB is a plus) Northrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
