Description: This position is to lead the Wing Mate and Structures Build Team as Director. The F-35 program is the largest defense contract in history and is well on its way to recapitalizing the air forces of the free world. The Fort Worth Wing Mate and Structures Build area is a crucial critical path component of this program, and is pivotal to maintaining success across the program. The Fort Worth Wing Mate and Structures Build Team is responsible for the majority of full wing component assembly for deliveries worldwide. This team accomplishes that structural assembly, systems installation, and final finish work and subsequent delivery to the F-35 Wing Mate and Structures Build Team completed aircraft assembly to support the United States military and at least nine partner nation foreign military sales. Responsibilities of this role will include Safety, Quality, Test, Schedule, Delivery, Cost, Training and Compliance performance and operational excellence for the Wing Mate and Structures Build Team, as well as the Integrated Product Team for control account managers within the earned value management system construct. Leads lower tier senior managers, technical leads, and manufacturing operational activities including facility and capital planning, tool utilization manufacturing plans, work flows, and crew loading. Responsible for strategic development and plan execution for the expansion from current low rate initial production (LRIP) phase into Full Rate Production (FRP) that will equate to a >200% growth, in both operational stations and personnel, for the Wing Structures and Mate build team. In the next two years alone growth in deliveries will be 38% (2017 to 2018) and 48% (2018 to 2019) respectively. Develops the overall strategy and execution for build area in the current state, as well as the transition into Full Rate Production (FRP). Coordination as required with the Functional Organization, Production Engineering, other support organizations, and the Training Department in order to develop and deploy employees who are qualified and capable to perform in the Wing Mate and Structures build area. Responsible for yearly performance assessments and reviews for salaried employees. Responsible for continuous improvement, defect reduction, cost and span efficiency improvements, and safety of employees and aircraft in the area. This position requires the Director of Wing Mate and Structures to run the team in a manner that operates it successfully as a primary segment of the business, while maintaining balance and integration across the entire production system spanning the globe. The F-35 Wing Mate and Structures Director will closely coordinate with the F-35 Wing Systems Director and the F-35 Center Wing Director for upstream and downstream integration.***Must be a US Citizen. This position is located at a facility that requires special access. This position will require a clearance.Desired Skills: • Bachelors degree. • Fighter Aircraft Production Operations experience. • F-35 aircraft and 5th generation coatings knowledge and F35 Production Operations processes.• Uses good judgment, makes timely and sound decisions. • Builds effective teams committed to program and organizational goals. • Understands financial impacts of decisions and actions of the team. • Problem solving, root cause, corrective action and continuous improvement. Strong organizational, planning and time management skills. • Ability to manage, coach, train, and motivate team in technical and leadership development. • Strong presentation skills and speaking skills as well as the ability to address complex matters and solutions with senior leadership. Basic Qualifications: • 10 years proven experience in a complex Production or related environment. • Leadership experience. • Demonstrated success in manufacturing execution in difficult environments including; managing a union shop, increasing volumes, significant labor increases, inconsistent material supply, producibility and quality challenges. • Demonstrated Technical and Strategic Leadership abilities to drive actions to meet/exceed customer satisfaction.
